#DailyEdit:Festival Favorites

With lots of you whizzing of to the some of the last of the summer festivals this weekend, we thought we best share our top 5 favourite festival hair styles so you can be certain your the chic’est styled girl in the fields. All of which accompany your jones+jones festival dress just perfectly. They’re girly, edgy and stand out.

  • Spray a volumizer like on towel-dried hair.
  • Twist sections of hair while drying it with a blow-dryer.
  • When hair is dry, part your hair to the side, then pull it loosely into a ponytail at the nape of the neck. For a smooth look, secure the ponytail with elastic — the same shade as your hair.
  • Pull out a few pieces of hair at the top of the crown to create height. Don’t worry about making it perfect — it should look a little messy.

plaited crown

Step 1. Wash and rough blow dry your hair

Step 2. Apply a little hair spary throughout your hair and flicker through with your hands.

Step 3. Split your hair in to a parting down the centre into two equal sections.

Step 4. Plait the left. Then plait the right.

Step 5. Pull one plait up and over the front, top of your head and secure round the other side with grips. Repeat with the opposite side, tucking both plaits under one another at their ends. Fasten down with more grips. Apply hairspray for a firm hold.

side plait

Step 1. Start with day old hair, wash and roughdry the night before

Step 2. Apply texture spray to random sections, blasting with a hairdryer to give that textured bed head look

Step 3. Apply a small pump of some styling gel to the palm of your hand and work into the mid-lengths and ends of the hair

Step 4. Creating a low side parting, brining the hair over, dividing the hair into three random sections and plait down. Continue the plait and secure in place with a hairband

Step 5. Apply a small amount of moulding paste, warming in the hands, giving it that matt texture. Work hands gently through the hair pulling out sections to create that messy look. This is the completed side plait hairstyle.

Step 1. Flip your head over and put your hair in a messy high ponytail at the top of your head and secure with a hair tie. (Use a hair tie color closest to your hair color.) Note: No need to brush out hair before hand with this look. The messier the better.

Step 2. Pull the ponytail in an upward then downward position, just a tad, to loosen.

Step 3. Loosely wrap ponytail hair around hair tie and secure pieces with bobby pins.

Step 4. Loosen random pieces in front, at sides, back and on top to create the messy look if not created already. Viola! You now have a chic, messy high bun!

Step 1: Finger comb your hair pulling it back into a low ponytail.

Step 2: Spray any fly aways with a light weight hairspray and add a little to your ponytail to provide some extra texture.

Step 3: Take a teasingcomb, or any teasing comb or brush, and tease the ponytail slightly.

Step 4: Wrap the ponytail around itself and when you have about three inches of hair left separate the sections and twist in opposite directions.

Step 5: Secure the pieces on top of the bun with a few bobby pins.

This week were getting excited about going out in MANCHESTER! Heres some ideas for all you northerners to help plan your weekend! Weekends are for living and not sitting in doors bored after all!

As one of our girls is a true Northern lass she has given us her top tips on where to go this weekend!

So here it is…..

Its Friday, Friday…..

If you’re wanting to ditch the faffin and get straight to it then get yourself home, forget cooking, slip into your fabulous j+j number, glam up head out to your first destination point that has to be the Almost Famous burger restaurant! By this point you’ll be STARVIN’ and there menu is to die for.  There known for their beer and burgers so make sure to cover yourself in napkins when you’re eating! No one likes stains on their jones+jones dress!! After you’ve finished eating you have to head to The Liars Club where you’ll descend the stairs and are transported to a tropical hideaway packed with rum, fun, cocktails and Tiki craziness a million miles from the streets of Manchester up above. Someone order me a Zombie…….

After a hard night of partying there’s nothing better than enjoying some retail therapy and in Manchester there’s no better place to go than the Trafford Centre! Hundreds of shops are all under one roof with a huge selection of different restaurants to satisfy you too! Looking to treat your taste buds?! Oh good, because we’ve got just the place. We highly recommend you visit Pesto which offers a range of fresh Italian tapas; great to share with friends and it guarantees you can taste one of everything, if you’re fussy like us!! If you’re feeling ready for another big night on the town we suggest heading to Manchester’s number one celebrity and VIP nightclub! Who wouldn’t want to liaise with celebrities on a night out! This Saturday night Helen Flanagan is hosting a night called Taboo, which ensures tropical cocktails and great dance music!

Manchester 2

Sunday snooze-day

For a chilled out Sunday before the next week begins, we highly recommended a nice lie in and then a trip to Rain Bar situated in central Manchester looking onto a beautiful river! You can sit out in the sun and relax as you eat some delicious food! The atmosphere and the view is great and offers such a warm welcome that you’ll not want to leave! BUT if you do want to leave the pub then why not head down to the new attraction, which is the Sea Life center. Situated right next door to the Trafford Centre it’s in a prime location and has only been open a few months! It’s a great experience and there’s no reason why you can’t get dressed up in your jones+jones dress to see some fishes!! Throw on a pair of comfy shoes and work the day dress!

Sometimes its good to see things in black and white and its clear to see the monochrome trend for SS13 is a winning combination. The celebs are out in full force sporting the hot white blazer with blocks of black and colour so get involved! If you like to keep things simple then this is the perfect style solution for you. We are too in love with our Chloe dress and from the response it seems you are too. Therefore it only seems right to dedicate a few moments into looking at how we can  get the most four of this beautiful dress.

The black and white trend has been seen dominating the runways for SS13 but non more so than at the Marc Jacobs shows. His own label showed a stripy interpretation of the mono trend.  These  some of the fantastic and striking accessories he has to offer us Monochrome enthusiasts!marc jacobs the stylists guide

The best thing about wearing black and white is its versatility. Whether it be in the form of spots stripes or block colour, its crisp, bold and fun to play

around with!

The colour combination of black and white is as timeless as it is flattering.

Heading away on holiday? Be sure to pack yourself one of the super sexy sheer Caroline blouses. Delicate lace adorning the shoulders, this is perfect for those special summer evenings. White is great with bold prints, it helps tone them down whilst not taking the attention away from their brilliance. Whether the print is on the dress or paired with white, bold florals are here to stay for now and in our eyes they make an outfit an all round success.the stylist guide with red

Summer Sounds in jones + jones Dresses…

music playlistPatterns are always an attention grabber and the Georgie dress is really cute too! Perfect for dancing in but also chilling out with a picnic listening to some blissful beats.

Also check out our Marie and Carly dresses highly practical and also highly visible to make you stand out in a crowd.

Music playlist. Dressing for festivals

You might think the Cream Audrey is a strange choice but whites and nudes have been a strong trend for the summer and is also the coolest colour when it comes to the heat (as we all know we complain once it’s here!).

However this is where practicality comes in, how do you keep it stain free in a very messy world? Basically watch where you sit (be that loser who carries a plastic bag to sit on not the one with a dodgy looking brown stain), watch where your food and drink is going (in your mouth not down your dress) and lastly hope it doesn’t rain so your tan stays firmly in place. So if all goes to plan you will look lovely and fresh bouncing to beats!

Denim has also been a massive story this summer and our Monica dress fits perfectly into a music scene. Cute enough with it’s full skirt and white detailing but with a denim edge to ensure you can go see the most obscure band and still be the belle of the ball.

Check out our sounds of the Summer to get you in the mood whether going to a festival or to see a local band, happy listening!
