#DailyEdit:Festival Favorites

With lots of you whizzing of to the some of the last of the summer festivals this weekend, we thought we best share our top 5 favourite festival hair styles so you can be certain your the chic’est styled girl in the fields. All of which accompany your jones+jones festival dress just perfectly. They’re girly, edgy and stand out.

TEXTURED PONY

TIPS FOR ACHIEVING YOUR TEXTURED PLAIT:

  • Spray a volumizer like on towel-dried hair.
  • Twist sections of hair while drying it with a blow-dryer.
  • When hair is dry, part your hair to the side, then pull it loosely into a ponytail at the nape of the neck. For a smooth look, secure the ponytail with elastic — the same shade as your hair.
  • Pull out a few pieces of hair at the top of the crown to create height. Don’t worry about making it perfect — it should look a little messy.

plaited crown

HOW TO ACHIEVE THE PLAITED CROWN:

Step 1. Wash and rough blow dry your hair

Step 2. Apply a little hair spary throughout your hair and flicker through with your hands.

Step 3. Split your hair in to a parting down the centre into two equal sections.

Step 4. Plait the left. Then plait the right.

Step 5. Pull one plait up and over the front, top of your head and secure round the other side with grips. Repeat with the opposite side, tucking both plaits under one another at their ends. Fasten down with more grips. Apply hairspray for a firm hold.

side plait

HOW TO ACHIEVE THE RELAXED SIDE PLAIT:

Step 1. Start with day old hair, wash and roughdry the night before

Step 2. Apply texture spray to random sections, blasting with a hairdryer to give that textured bed head look

Step 3. Apply a small pump of some styling gel to the palm of your hand and work into the mid-lengths and ends of the hair

Step 4. Creating a low side parting, brining the hair over, dividing the hair into three random sections and plait down. Continue the plait and secure in place with a hairband

Step 5. Apply a small amount of moulding paste, warming in the hands, giving it that matt texture. Work hands gently through the hair pulling out sections to create that messy look. This is the completed side plait hairstyle.

TOP KNOT

HOT TO ACHIEVE THE MESSY TOP KNOT :

Step 1. Flip your head over and put your hair in a messy high ponytail at the top of your head and secure with a hair tie. (Use a hair tie color closest to your hair color.) Note: No need to brush out hair before hand with this look. The messier the better.

Step 2. Pull the ponytail in an upward then downward position, just a tad, to loosen.

Step 3. Loosely wrap ponytail hair around hair tie and secure pieces with bobby pins.

Step 4. Loosen random pieces in front, at sides, back and on top to create the messy look if not created already. Viola! You now have a chic, messy high bun!

Step 1: Finger comb your hair pulling it back into a low ponytail.

Step 2: Spray any fly aways with a light weight hairspray and add a little to your ponytail to provide some extra texture.

Step 3: Take a teasingcomb, or any teasing comb or brush, and tease the ponytail slightly.

Step 4: Wrap the ponytail around itself and when you have about three inches of hair left separate the sections and twist in opposite directions.

Step 5: Secure the pieces on top of the bun with a few bobby pins.

We talk vintage inspired trends with Dress Me Daisy!

We love catching up and chatting about style and trends, so when styling advice site Dress Me Daisy approached us for our styling tips on how to wear 40′s and 50′s inspired trends we jumped at the chance to share our thoughts!

Dress Me Daisy offer styling advice for real women on how to wear trends and wardrobe update ideas and try not to be unrealistic about what real women will wear and can afford. We admire this refreshing approach to fashion and we share many of their ideals, for example, apart from the stunning Ellie Paige, who won our Model of The Year competition, our models are real girls who actually work in our office so we know that what we design will suit the girl on the high street looking for something edgy yet feminine.

40′s and 50′s styles are a huge inspiration for us and they were also all over the A/W 2011 and S/S 2012 catwalks, from gorgeous hourglass silhouettes, nipped-in waists and fabulous full skirts from Betsey Johnson and Prada, to David Koma and Louis Vuitton…

Feminine festival style…

Although we admire the hot pants and band tee indie look that, let’s be honest, is comfortable, practical and never out of trend, we most definitely take our hats off to those who still manage to look ladylike, stylish and festival-suitable when battling their way through a muddy field. Our fashion heroes of Glastonbury 2011 (apart from Beyonce of course), are Alexa Chung and Jacquetta Wheeler…

Alexa can always be relied upon to bring a good sense of style to any event and didn’t disappoint. In an ivory Topshop Dress, quilted Chanel bag and black leather Chelsea ankle boots, she looked festival-perfect…

Meanwhile model Jacquetta combined her vintage red dress and leather jacket with Hunter wellies and a Mulberry Rosie satchel…

If you’re attending any festivals this summer and fancy stealing their style we suggest a pair of Hunter wellies, a black leather jacket, a gorgeous handbag, on-trend shades and any of the following…

We love Olivia’s style and we’re glad we can add her to our huge fanbase in the north west of England!

Ways to wear: Topshop’s Winnie Wedges!

As soon as the Jones + Jones office saw Topshop’s Winnie Espadrille Wedges in Fuschia we knew we were onto a good thing. T-bar strapping in fuschia suede with stitching detail, these shoes are so hot for the summer.

The Winnie Wedges by Topshop

We starting day dreaming about what we would wear them with and here are a couple of our favourite suggestions…

Starting with the Liberty Rose Print Dresses – the fuschia perfectly matches the rose print and will be the perfect summer accessory to finish off the outfit.

The Phoebe Dress in Liberty Rose Print would look stunning these wedges:

Our next suggestion would be the new Pleated Sarah Dress. Combine the wedges with the white Sarah Dress for a very fresh and feminine look with your tan or with the orange Sarah Dress to show off your fashion trend knowledge by colour blocking in bold and bright pink and orange à la Jil Sander and Prada S/S 2011!

And finally any of our cream dresses would look gorgeous with these wedges, and our best seller of season so far is no exception. The Vivienne Dress in pleated cream lace is the perfect summer dress and combined with the perfect summer shoes, you can’t go wrong!

Jones + Jones wants you to blog for them (and you might win your favourite Jones + Jones Dress while you’re at it)!

We at the Jones + Jones office love nothing better than seeing our wonderful customers styling up our beautiful garments in trendy, fun and imaginative ways!

We’ve already noticed some stunning images popping up on lookbook.nu and chictopia.com as well as in amazing fashion blogs and we felt so inspired by it all, we thought we’d run a new competition from today until midnight on Wednesday the 23rd of March to give one lucky lady a chance to win her favourite Jones + Jones Dress from the Jones + Jones  S/S 2011 collection so far on our website!

We’re inviting all of our lovely customers to post a photograph of themselves styled up in their favourite Jones + Jones outfit onto our Facebook page complete with two sentences. The first sentence should be why you love Jones + Jones so much (because we know you do!) and the second sentence should be about your style influences for your photograph – get creative!

We will then judge the images and sentences on Thursday the 24th of March and our favourites will be invited to submit their image and information about themselves including their fashion and style influences and their blog if they have one. We will post all of this information on a Jones + Jones blog per favourite entrant starting from Friday the 25th of March- a great chance to show the world how stylish you are and advertise your blog while you’re at it! The blogger who has the most Facebook likes for their Jones + Jones blog by Saturday the 2nd of April will win their favourite dress!

Have fun and get styling!
