Lauren Aquilina

Lauren Aquilina

Have you heard of the great new singer/songwriter Lauren Aquilina? The 18 year old has a beautifully powerful voice and loves jones+jones. Her new music video is out now and guess what?! She is wearing not one but TWO jones+jones dresses in it! Her latest single is currently number 5 in the iTunes chart so you should definitely check it out! The fun loving young girl not only loves our dresses but is a massive fan of biscuits find out all about her below:

1. What jones+jones dress do you love the most?

I think ‘Vicky’ is my favourite! I have it in red and lilac.

2. Describe your style to us?

It’s pretty chilled on a day-to-day basis. You’ll often find me in high waist denim cut-offs and loose-cropped tees. However, for video shoots and photo shoots I love to wear really dramatic clothing that I maybe couldn’t get away with if I was just going to the shops! I really play on that.

3. Where do you enjoy wearing jones+jones the most?

I’ve worn jones+jones in two of my music videos now, which has been great. The dresses really flatter my body shape so I don’t feel self conscious in them at all. I’ve also worn a jones+jones dress to pretty much every party I’ve been to in the past year haha! They’ve kinda become my thing.

4. Where do you get inspiration for your music?

Mostly from my personal life, I think its really important that lyrics are honest and that that comes across in the song. I also sometimes overhear people’s conversations or take inspiration from my friends and family.

5. Have you always enjoyed dressing up?

I was never really into dresses when I was young; I think as I grew up and my body started to change I got more into it. There’s something amazing about walking into a room in a jones+jones dress and a pair of heels when people are used to seeing you in jeans and t-shirts.

6. We’ve heard you like biscuits, what’s your favourite one?

Chocolate bourbons! That’s another Aquilina thing. I’m literally obsessed. It’s bordering on ridiculous.

7. If you could have a tea party what dress would you wear from our collection and what biscuits would you supply?

Probably the ‘Alice Liberty Print’ dress – its so floral and summery! The colour is lovely too. I’d definitely want some shortbread involved, maybe some hobnobs, and obviously…bourbons!

She’s definitely one to watch not only for her music but her great choice in dresses!!

The Dirty Dancing dress

Looking for a modern take on a iconic dress? Then look no further as the new jones + jones ’Dirty Dancing’ prom dress  is available on our website now. The classic film celebrates its twenty-fifth anniversary this year and is still proving to be as popular as it was during its debut in 1987 where we saw Jennifer Grey and the late Patrick Swayze fall in love and light up the screen as Baby and Johnny.

The Dirty Dancing style dress features a 50s full skirt, figure hugging vest bodice, girly bow and a low cut back which reveals just enough skin. The dress is available in simple white or luscious red – perfect for dancing the night away with your very own Johnny Castle.

Here at jones + jones HQ we recommend teaming the dress with a pair of metallic gold sandals, such as the Topshop pair below, keeping things simple and letting the stunning dress do the talking.

To glitz up the dress for evening we recommend these oh-so-gorgeous strappy beige wedge heels from Aldo. The neutral colour will makes legs appear longer and a wedge heel is super comfy making it easy to dance the night away.

Whilst wearing this dress you are guaranteed to have “The Time Of Your Life”.

Available on our website and at selected Topshop stores now.
