Guide to your perfect mini break!

A guide for a perfect weekend mini break….

Now that Valentines day is coming up, a city break to Paris shouldn’t be a miss.

Everyone knows Paris as “the romantic capital” so it is a Paris necessity to close a padlock and throw away the key with your valentine on the lovers bridge “where love gets locked forever”.

The tradition started when young lovers began to write love messages onto lockets and lock them on the Pont Des Arts chain link fence and would throw away the key as a sign of there love is eternal , as time went on more and more people joined this tradition.

To shake off some of that love, why not take a stroll around the famous shopping precinct, Marais.

With there beautifully selected group of boutiques you will be sure to find some one off vintages pieces, It is sometimes compared as Soho to Londoners and Washington square to New Yorkers.

If your struggling to find the perfect place to dine after a long day of being a tourist, look no further.

Terminus Nord, one of the ubiquitous Flo Group brasseries in Paris. The Terminus is definitely one of the brighter places on the the block. If you enjoy eating seafood this restaurant is definitely the place for you.

If your not quite ready for bed, head to Paris showcase, which is often described as “the best nightclub ever been too”.  With its unprecedented architecture and unique location, it does not come to a surprise that it attracts a vast variety of people from Paris’s most exclusive socialites to Frances political leaders.

If your looking to stay for the night, why not stay at the Four Seasons Hotel, perfect for both Business and pleasure trips. As an 8 story landmark with an exquisite art collection it would be a shame to miss.

AND FINALLY…….

The most important part!… WHAT TO WEAR?! look no further:

From day to night we have it covered!

Milan, the capital of Lombardy, Accommodating some of the best designers, artists, photographers and models. Milan features some of the most interesting architecture in the world which is why this city attracts such glamor.

With Milan being one of the fashion capitals, the designer shops are just around the corner at what they like to call the rectangle of gold, which consists on 4 streets of couture clothing stores all to form a shape of a rectangle. This is definitely worth a trip to see whether its to just glare at the beautifully designed window displays or to purchase a new pair of Louboutin’s on your plastic money bank.

Happy hour at its best!,

With happy hour fixed prices at €6 and €8 take a trip down to some of Milan’s hippest bars to meet the locals and experience a live DJ to get you in the mood for the evening ahead. Many of the bars will serve food and include garden areas to enjoy a bit of fresh air.

If you live by the saying “work hard, play hard” then you’ll fit in fine. Stop by the club “Hollywood” where you will find, the artsy, hip and gay communities merged together in the combined space which was once a weekend demand for the champagne socialites of Milan. If you fancy something different then head to Loolapaloosa, where you can have a little dance on the bar while drinking some of Milan’s finest cocktails.

If your looking for a 5 star pad to crash at after a long day………

Carlton Hotel Baglioni is one of Milan’s most luxurious hotels rating at a 5 star. It is situated in the heart of Milan’s city center so it is perfect location for getting to and from your tourist hot spots.

Light packing is essential for mini city breaks…………

When in Rome……

Why not take a stroll to the Trevi Fountain, test your luck by making a wish. This piggy bank, full of loose change is one of the most famous fountains in the world which has also starred in a few known movies such as La Dolce Vita.

Want to meet the Pope?, every Wednesday morning you can join the audience with him in St Peters Square if the weather is nice. Expect to be surrounded by passionate Catholics regulars and desperate snap happy tourists. It will definitely be an experience.

Or you can take a trip up the Vittoriano using the lift which takes you to a birds eye view of the city in minutes. The white monument was built in the honor of a Victor Emmanuel which was the first king of Unified Italy.

Indulge in some Italian sweets….

Rome is known for owning some of the most exquisite chocolate shops and cafe’s in Europe. Cioccolata e Vino is a popular choice, with such temptations, it is extremely hard to say no due to half chocolate shop half bar, it is full of treats to satisfy everyone.

Here’s your day to night outfits perfect for your mini break in Rome!

Happy Holidays!

jones + jones in the DCU Fashion Show!…x

We were so excited to be part of the amazing DCU Fashion Show for the second year running last Tuesday! The event, sponsored by Diet Coke amongst others, showcased modelling and design talent from across Ireland as well as collections from top high street brands ranging from Zara to H&M, Jack & Jones to jones + jones!…

The theme of the show was ‘High Tech Heritage’,  which chairperson of DCU Style Society, Susan Gorman, described as a celebration of  ’…our fast-changing, internet and media rich world merged with the rebirth of vintage clothing’. From the sparkling sequins on the Julia Dress to the edgy structuring of the Nicky Dress, the full and flirty forties and fifties inspired skirts to the on-trend textural florals, we think that the gorgeous selection of garments showcased from our S/S 2012 collection perfectly encapsulated the theme alongside the projections and social media used.

A huge thank you to all of the stunning models and a special thank you to Aoife Fitzgerald and our fantastic Concession Managers in Dublin, Aimee Harden and Zara Andrews! You can find all the stunning dresses on our website here and in our amazing concessions in select Topshop stores including Topshop in the Jervis Shopping Centre and in St Stephens Green in Dublin!
